Feijoas are a hardy subtropical fruit tree that grow in most free draining soils and though prefer a sheltered position, there are commonly used as hedges, growing easily to 3m.
Feed with Citrus Fertiliser in October and again February and water well through the Summer months.
FEIJOA POLLINATION
Although classed as self-fertile, pollination is by larger birds such as Thrushes and Black Birds. These birds will travel some distance for their food and therefore pollination in the home garden is generally not an issue with 1 plant. I personally have never seen a feijoa tree without fruit on it in a home garden. Remember though planting 2 different ones will give you a longer season of delicious fruit.
